FDA Warns Again Against Cold Medicines For Young Children
The Food and Drug Administration is announcing Thursday that parents should not give over-the-counter cough and cold medicines to children under the age of two. The warning is being issued over concerns that "serious and potentially life-threatening side effects can occur."
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 1,500 babies and toddler ended up in emergency rooms over a two-year period because of side effects from the drugs.
The makers of several over-the-counter cold medicines made for children are voluntarily pulling their products from the shelves. See Video
